Muscat Art Exhibition opens today with 200 artists from 15 countries

Muscat – The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth will host the Muscat Art Exhibition 2025 on Wednesday under the theme ‘Elements that Build the Story’, in collaboration with the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre (OCEC).

The exhibition will bring together more than 200 artists from over 15 Arab and international countries. It will be inaugurated under the patronage of Sayyid Saud bin Hilal al Busaidi, Governor of Muscat, in the presence of H E Sayyid Said bin Sultan al Busaidi, Undersecretary for Culture in the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth.

H E Busaidi said Muscat Art 2025 reflects the continuing growth of Oman’s art movement and embodies the ministry’s vision to support creativity and empower artists in line with Oman Vision 2040. He added that the cultural and artistic sector plays a key role in national development – not only in enriching the visual landscape but also in shaping social awareness, strengthening identity, and contributing to the economy.

He noted that this year’s theme highlights the connection between Omani cultural heritage and contemporary artistic expression, capturing the spirit of the times through diverse creative perspectives. By welcoming prominent artists from Oman and abroad, the exhibition aims to promote cultural dialogue and showcase Oman’s openness to global artistic exchange.

“Muscat Art 2025 goes beyond being an exhibition – it is a national platform that reflects art’s role in strengthening awareness, identity, and belonging,” he said. “Through its innovative themes, it seeks to establish Muscat as a leading centre for art and culture in the region.”

The undersecretary added that the ministry considers cultural and creative industries an essential pillar of social and economic transformation, in line with the National Cultural Strategy 2021–2040.

It continues to develop a framework to support artists, encourage innovation, and create an environment that nurtures creative talent.

The Muscat Art Exhibition stands as a yearly occasion that unites local and international artists alongside galleries, fostering a shared platform. At its core, this event is driven by a fundamental goal: to elevate cultural consciousness and underscore the significance of safeguarding artistic creations, thereby ensuring their enduring legacy for generations to come. Beyond the realm of art fairs, the influence of Muscat Art extends into broader horizons. This is achieved through supplementary endeavours designed to support individuals within the artistic realm, bolstering a holistic and sustainable art ecosystem that encompasses all aspects of creativity.

Muscat Art is built on partnerships – with galleries, organizations, artists, curators, collectors, and of course, our valued partners who stand with us in both supporting and celebrating the art scenes of Muscat, Oman, and beyond.

Each collaboration is carefully shaped through meaningful dialogue and aligned with shared goals in outreach, community engagement, and cultural development. Together, these partnerships play a vital role in positioning Muscat Art as a landmark event in the global art calendar.

The commitment of our partners empowers us to expand Muscat Art’s vision and programming year after year. Our relationships are built on trust, creativity, continuity, and shared aspirations – ensuring lasting value for all involved.
